I know how the saying goes, west coast best coast right? WRONG- In my humble opinion of course. 😉

Here are the top 10 things to do when you find yourself East coast chillin’ for the summer…

1. MISQUAMICUT BEACH!

The coolest little one lane beach town in the smallest state in the U.S., Misquamicat Beach, Westerly,  RI! PADDY’S beach bar is where it’s at here! You walk up barefoot in your bathing suit to the bar and you most definitely need to order yourself a shark tank and some clam fritters! 👅 (*MOUTH WATERS*)

2. CONEY ISLAND!

Ride the wonder wheel at Coney Island in Brooklyn, NY not once, but twice. Eat an original NATHAN’s famous hot dog and crinkle fries and hang with the old school carnies!

3. CAPE COD!

Here’s your go to for the BEST DAMN lobster rolls you have ever had! Captain Frosty’s is #1, but let’s be real. You really can’t go wrong with any seafood at the Cape.

4. YANKEES GAME!

 Of course you have to go to a Yanks game! Yeah the beers are $14 dollars, but seeing the 27 champion World Series banners is pretty badass. Not to mention, there’s always the celebs that go to games you can spot on the jumbo-tron. If you’re on a budget, bleacher seats are the best to catch a home run and make rowdy friends!

5. WASHINGTON D.C.!

Check out the Lincoln Memorial, White House and countless museums. It’s okay to look for Olivia Pope on Scandal, but make sure you stop by the famous GEORGETOWN CUPCAKES while mingling with famous congressman and senators.

6. VIRGINIA BEACH!

Known for its beautiful bike boardwalk, salt water taffy and in late August, Virginia Beach even hosts the East Coast Surfing Championships. Yeah, the waves are small, but there are still plenty of babes and booze so you know we love it.

7. SARATOGA!

Head to the horse track and play the ponies in Saratoga, NY. Opening day was Friday July 24th and they allow you to bring in your own coolers for all day tailgating! (*Large fancy hat not required, but hey if you’re feeling festive!*)

8. SEACRETS!

Located in Ocean City, MD, if you’re looking for ratchet beach bars, house music and old bay crab cakes this is the place for you.

9. LONG TRAIL BREWING COMPANY!

Looking for a brewery tour? Here’s a great one in VT! I also highly recommended buying Vermont sharp cheddar cheese, homemade maple syrup and anything maple flavored from Vermont. It’s amazing. And the donuts… DYING.

10. THE HAMPTONS!

We had to. I mean, it’s the Hamptons. If you’re feeling bougie, head to an oyster roast, crash a bachelor party or look for Kimye’s mansion. Montauk has the best beaches and the Surf Lodge is a total go-to as well. Go on, embrace your inner stardom and sip on some rose and put on the biggest sunglasses you own and show the Hamptons who’s boss!

So you’re single and well, yeah, you’re OVER it.

Sitting on the couch watching Netflix with a bottle of wine to yourself just isn’t how it used to be and you need to get out there and meet people. Start fresh.

So ladies and gentlemen, I give you the 10 best cities to live in if you’re single!

10. Baltimore, MD

Talk about a city full of singles! According to Forbes, there are 124.7 unmarried women per 100 unmarried men. Lucky men! This is on the up and attracting more singles who love a city atmosphere and East Coast lifestyle. Good morning Baltimore!

Messi vs. Ronaldo- Who is the BEST?

Ah, the debate of all debates in soccer- Lionel Messi vs. Cristiano Ronaldo.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are the world’s greatest soccer players, but which one is the best?
This is a rivalry that may not be matched again! It is tough question to answer when both are scoring consecutively each game and breaking world records. So let’s compare and break it down…

Messi has scored 458 goals in his career and Ronaldo has scored 491 goals in his career. In 2014-2015, Messi has averaged a goal every 87 minutes, playing 5,060 minutes throughout all competitions.

Ronaldo has averaged a goal every 77 minutes, playing 4,689 minutes. Messi is the first soccer player ever to score consecutively against all teams in a professional league. Ronaldo is the first player to score in every minute of a game.

On the other hand, both Messi and Ronaldo are the only soccer players in the world to have scored 60+ goals in all competitions in two seasons. They have left their own individual stamp on soccer history.

In other words, if you hadn’t already noticed, they’re both beasts.

People will always have a view, however, I think Lionel Messi is the better player. There, I said it!

At 24, Messi is taking over soccer with his countless goals and untold skill. Messi has won the most coveted prize, the Ballon d’Or, on three consecutive occasions, while Ronaldo has only won it one time in 2008.

According to Football Speak, Messi has scored 50 goals from 194 shots in La Liga this season which gives him a 25% conversion rate. That’s one-in-four chances! Ronaldo has scored 45 goals from 247 shots which works out to be 18%. Plus, Messi has played in more minutes than Ronaldo has. He ranks fourth in most minutes played, while Ronaldo falls five spots lower at ninth.

Also, how can you forget the 73 goals Messi scored for Barcelona this season! Even one of Ronaldo’s teammates, Fernando Gago, agrees that Messi is the best as he states,

“For me, the best in the world is Messi because of the way he plays, moves with the ball and changes matches, Messi has incredible ability and I love the way that he plays.”

And that’s how the cookie crumbles folks…

But hey, don’t sweat it Ronaldo. If this were a debate on looks you’d be winning the gold! 😉

Best TV/Movie Coach’s Daughters

A coach’s daughter, in any movie, becomes the sweetheart that is loved (or wanted) by all, and is completely, and literally, untouchable. Every coach takes care of their team. They are a mentor, a trainer, an instructor, a counselor, an encourager, and the list goes on. So imagine how that team leader is with his own daughter.

It’s innate for a father to be extremely protective of their daughters, and to make sure they are given everything, taught everything, and shielded from any danger (that is, horny high school boys), and they are the center of their daddy’s world. In a coach’s case, their daughter is going to grow up on the sidelines watching and learning the game and surrounded by players in the process so, in a lot of ways, she is the center of the team just as much as the coach is.

Even though it goes without saying, the two most iconic coach’s daughters of all times are Julie Taylor in Friday Night Lights TV Series and Sherly Yoast in Remember the Titans. Let’s review:

Because who doesn’t fall in love with that curly hair cutie in this INSANELY incredible movie? She has more football knowledge than some ESPN analysts and could make a state-champion offense look like PeeWee football if someone put the coach’s hat on her! She’s her dad’s cheerleader and side-kick and in my opinion, she wins MVP because she managed to have every single player wrapped around her little finger. My dream was to be on the sideline in the behind-the-scenes action just like this mini-firecracker and any girl that can hold her own in football talk is obviously the best in my book!

A sport’s movie is just a testosterone fueled story until you add the “forbidden fruit” that is THE COACH’S DAUGHTER. It’s a pretty well-known fact that all men want what they can’t have and what is more off-limits than the coach’s daughter. You know how it goes, the more off-limits she is, the better she looks, and the stronger that desire to get her in the back seat of your car… I mean out to dinner and a movie. But seriously, when it comes down to it, what guy isn’t going to fantasize about doing the dirty with “daddy’s little girl” aka the coach’s daughter? And what better person to play out this classic role than the uncorrupted blonde bombshell Aimee Teegarden? She may be innocent but she has looks that kill! CLEAR EYES, FULL HEARTS. Ugh we miss FNL.

Also can we pause on how grown up both of America’s little sweethearts have grown up to be….

All in all, being a coach’s daughter is pretty legit. You get free tickets, learn the game at a level most people never get the opportunity to and get to see the process of the game unfold beyond the audience-filled match up. I mean, who would complain? Best Cocktails to Order when You’re Dieting but Don’t Want to Look like a Priss

Let me start with a warning that this article is geared to anyone that wants to look hot while they’re drinking and after the drinking is over. You’re going to order that drink like a boss and keep you’re figure while you’re at it. No one wants to be the “I’ll take a skinny vodka Splenda yadda yadda.” Now, if you’re the person continuously waking up in a Taco Bell wrapper and/or vomit in your hair, my tricks can only go so far to help you.

For starters, here is a general rule of thumb: go for the clear alcohols. Darker alcohols, most of the time, contain more sugar that is harder for our body to breakdown. If you can’t think of some, here are some simple go-to’s:

1. Rum & Diet Coke (with lime)
   My personal favorite. It’s MY go-to. Ask anyone that knows me. Even Mr. Atkins himself approves of this beverage for his low-carb diet! This drink is zero carbs. If that’s not proof, I don’t know what is!
2. Vodka Soda (with lime/lemon)
   Sure, this drink may sound girly to some readers. But, let’s be real. It’s simple and to the point. AKA hard liquor & chaser. You’re basically taking a shot. Hardcore cred? I think so.
3. Tequila Water (with lime/lemon)
   Okay, you’re hardcore. There’s no time to mess around. Let’s cut to the chase. I notice that bartenders even freeze for a second when you order one of these. I mean, it’s hard to process those words coming out of my Barbie pink painted lips. AKA you’re now the genius that is dehydrating & hydrating your body at the same time. The guy standing next to you holding his “Coors Light” is cringing inside, since he now looks and feels like the priss. Or if you really want to face the music just go with the straight tequila shot.
4. Bloody Mary
   Spice it up! Doesn’t everyone know by now that spicy food can boost your metabolism? Why wouldn’t you burn some extra calories while drinking them?

 

 

This sure as hell isn’t a cocktail recipe book, but it is a few drink ideas to keep in mind in order to help you avoid any tight (literally suffocating in your high waisted jean short) situations. Take my advice or leave it, either way enjoy getting wasted!

Top 10 Beer’s To Bring To Your Next Tailgate

Whether you’re outside your favorite football stadium, in a muddy field before a summer concert, or in your own driveway with your best friends, everyone loves drinking a nice, cold one while tailgating.

Usually tailgate beers are meant for more of a quantity over quality feel, the most bang for your buck (aka the people’s champion: Natty Light.) As a lover of both sports and booze, here are my suggestions of some tasty brews to bring to your next tailgate that will keep everyone asking for more and might surprise you!

#10. GOOSE ISLAND IPA- Impress your Chicago friends/fans and try all the other Goose Island brands. Can’t go wrong!

#9. SIERRA NEVADA TORPEDO- Hoppy and lives up to it’s name, aka having the ability to sink your entire day, in a good way of course.

#8. YUENGLING- America’s oldest brewery! Malty & slightly sweet.

#7. SHINER BOCK- Because TEXAS, that’s why.

#6. FAT TIRE AMBER ALE- Perfect if you’re looking to gain some parking lot cred with the adults with this “classier” canned beer. Not the cheapest at $15.99 for a 12 pack, but always tasty.

#5. BUDWEISER/BUD LIGHT- Such a classic that I couldn’t keep it off the list- also economical!

#4. ANCHOR STEAM- California common, that is always delicious and the only steam beer in the US.

#3. FOUNDER’S ALL DAY IPA– Year round availability and comes in a 15 pack of cans how cool is that?!

#2. GREAT LAKES DORMUNTER GOLD- A Cleveland favorite had to get some love on my list! In a cold, broken city, where sports dreams go to die, I have come to realize one thing us Clevelanders are really good at: DRINKING.

#1. PABST BLUE RIBBON aka PBR- My grandpa’s favorite beer- and now the Brooklyn hipsters fave as well. Less than a buck per beer, you can pick up a 12 pack for $9.99 before your next tailgate!

But remember the best beer at a tailgate, is ALWAYS the one your holding.

Why we LOVE Coconut Oil

Every female has their go-to beauty products, from their face wash to their shampoo and conditioner, right down to their MAC lipstick. It’s no secret that we put a lot of chemicals onto our skin and into our bodies for the sake of looking good and feeling better, but what if there was a better alternative? A more organic alternative?

Insert coconut oil. Here are some of the million ways to implement it into your everyday routine:

1. Homemade conditioner.
   Coconut oil is filled with vitamins and minerals that are amazing in helping restore damaged hair and replenishing protein that many hair products strip from our manes. It also helps to retain moisture, which is especially helpful for those with dry, brittle hair. There are plenty of recipes online for making your own conditioner, however if you just want something easy to whip up:

Recipe:
¼ cup of plain, nonfat yogurt
1 tbsp. of coconut oil
1 tbsp. of honey
1 cup of water, warmed up enough to melt the coconut oil.

Mix together in mixing bowl and apply evenly to hair after shampoo. Keep in hair for at least 30 minutes, under a shower cap or warm towel.

DISCLAIMER: It’s super important to play around with the measurements. Some hair is thicker and coarser than others and may require more of each or less for thinner, finer hair. Please take some time to get to know your hair type and what it needs.

If you don’t have time for the entire process, you can mix a small amount of coconut oil in with your normal conditioner to soften you hair and keep it shiny. Not to mention, your hair will smell amazing.

2. Moisturizer.
   
   Instead of using lotion, try replacing it with coconut oil. It helps to prevent
   stretch marks, burning (it’s a natural SPF…yay!) or helps to soothe psoriasis or eczema symptoms. If you’re feeling super fancy, you can mix it with sugar for a nice body scrub to use in the shower.
3. Lip Balm.
   You can use the coconut oil by itself on your lips as a chap stick if you need a little relief or you can get creative and make your own lip balm or lipstick. All you need is the oil, beeswax and shea butter!
4. Cooking.
   While coconut oil is great externally, there are also many great benefits it contains for your body internally! Try swapping out your heavier oils with coconut oil when cooking   or even try mixing it in with your favorite drink or smoothie. In the past, coconut oil was a no-no for many people because of the high saturated fat, but according to the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition and the Annals of Internal Medicine saturated fats aren’t the devils that people made them out to be. Not to mention, the Lauric Acid found in coconut oil helps to kill bacteria and viruses.

I could go on and on about the wonderful benefits that coconut oil provides. Bottomline: Go out and get some! You’ll thank me later.
