Urlacher “The Linebreaker”

Okay, I just have to get this out. Being a Packer fan, there are few things I like about the Chicago Bears. One of those things is former linebacker, 8 time Pro Bowl-er BRIAN F***NG URLACHER.

You simply cannot bring up his name and say a negative thing about his 13 year career.

The 37 year-old is simply slaying his retirement. Literally slaying.

The former linebacker got into fishing with some buddies and now currently co-owns a fishing charter boat called the “Linebreaker”.

According to ESPN, the boat got its name when Urlacher couldn’t stop breaking lines off the boat when reeling in fish when a buddy of Brian’s said, “You’re not a linebacker! You’re a linebreaker!”

If you don’t believe me about this guy being a semi-pro fisherman, just check out the photo’s he post on his twitter of his adventures. You won’t be disappointed. (@BUrlacher54).

Well Urlacher, from the bottom of my heart, my hat is off to you. You taught me that defense wins games, and that’s a lesson a girl can never forget!

Love,

‪Your dearest Packer Fan

Edible Underwear Has Officially Gone Too Far…

6f9548f16eed055fec34fb7404f1c7cc

Edible Underwear.

So when I say that you think little CANDY bras and panties, right?

Invented in 1975 by two young entrepreneurs from Chicago, edible underwear or “Candy Pants” as  they were referred to back then, took off. Making over $150,000 dollars in profit each month, the “garment” immediately became arguably the most divisive novelty item in American history.

But of course, our generation went too far with the idea per usual.

ed5e58b72c11c7904200de525776ed6a.jpg

Today, options have expanded as far as “Beef Jerky Briefs” and lingerie shops in Louisiana are accepting food stamps in exchange for these edible undergarments. Yes, I’m being totally serious. But let’s go back to that first thing I mentioned…

Beef. Jerky. Briefs.

FVMHO2ZGY4R8M4T.MEDIUM

I’ll let that sink in. Isn’t that a bit terrifying? Like, think about eating a piece of beef jerky. It’s not like eating a little candy piece off a string. You really got pull on that. This seems hazardous to me. Warning label could be necessary…

Online you can even find chicks selling licorice thongs that have “only been worn once.” Stop. Just, stop. Don’t worry guys, ONLY BEEN WORN ONCE! Well what a relief. ARE YOU F#@%ING KIDDING ME?!

giphy

What the hell happened to normal little candy ones they sell at candy stores?! What’s next, bacon boobs?!

y1

So that brings me back to my first question… Is it worth it? Sorry guys but I’m thinking no on this one. Although, I did receive a (joke) set of candy-necklace bra and panties from my best friend in high school and I will say it was pretty delicious. No, they were not worn beforehand.

But hey, try ’em out if you dare! Just avoid the beef jerky man briefs unless you’re a Viking or something.

Literally can’t.

Yeah, They’re a Dynasty- Blackhawks Win Third Stanley Cup

183097-120-540209E9

Monday night the Chicago Blackhawks won their third Stanley Cup since 2010 beating the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-0 and winning the series 4-2.

Although this was their third Stanley Cup in the last six seasons, it was the first time since 1938 the Blackhawks were able to win the cup on their home ice in the windy city. Duncan Keith raised the Conn Smythe Trophy for playoff MVP recording 21 points and a playoff high 18 assists.

It was revealed that Ben Bishop, the goalie for the Tampa Bay Lightning had a torn groin, which he suffered in Game 2. Bishop was able to play through the injury for Game 3, sat Game 4 and then came back for the remainder of the series. Tyler Johnson, the centerpiece of the Lightning’s “triplet” line also revealed that he was playing with a broken wrist.

Blackhawks Captain Jonathan Toews, Photo: USA Today

The series between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Tampa Bay Lightning was extremely close. During the first five games of the series no team went ahead by more than one goal, until Patrick Kane scored his first goal of the series with a 5:14 left to play in the third period.

The Blackhawks became the first team since the 2002 Detroit Red Wings to win three Stanley Cups in six years. The Red Wings won in 1997, 1998 and 2002. With this Stanley Cup victory, the Blackhawks were able to solidify themselves as a dynasty in the NHL for the better part of a decade.

What’s scary about this Blackhawks team is that they are still young and have the potential to dominate the league for years to come. Their roster only contains four players over the age of 35 and both star players Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews are both under 30 years old. It should be interesting to see how the Blackhawks shape their team for next season following salary cap negotiations this off-season.

Exclusive! MCM: Chris Conte

Chris-Conte

Ayeeee, it’s Monday and we got a crush for you.

Meet Chris Conte, Tampa Bay Buccaneers Safety.

Conte played ball at CAL where he was then drafted in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears. Conte spent his past four seasons playing for the Bears, where he played in 57 of a possible 64 games, starting 52 of them. Conte tallied 180 tackles, nine interceptions, 21 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery during his time with the Bears. Not too shabby!

Standing at 6’2 and 203 lbs, Conte’s got a rockin’ bod and he’s fast too- Runs a 4.5secs 40.

We got the scoop from Conte about who he admired as a child (you’ll recognize this former pro’s name) and where he likes to spend the off season.

Catch him if you can ladies- TCD’s #MCM…

Why People Who Hate Hockey Are the Same as People Who Hate Country Music

IMG_1721
TCD girls killing it at Stagecoach! And yes, we all love hockey too!

So I have this theory.

IMG_2780
Cowboy hats & cut off jeans… Because, STAGECOACH.

People who say that they “hate” hockey are the same as people who say that they “hate” country music. Want to know why? It’s as simple as this. Because they’ve never been to a live event.

IMG_1736
TCD’s Hailey & Courtney at Stagecoach

Now country concerts are just God’s gift to this green earth.

Every person that has told me they hate country music has changed their mind when I bring them to (HA-LLE-LU-JAH, HA-LLE-LU-JAH) STAGECOACH: where the beer and the whiskey is ever-flowing and the jean cutoffs can’t get much shorter. The atmosphere is insane. Everyone is just happy to be there wearing a good ole’ pair of cowboy boots and a trusty cowboy hat. It really is a man’s paradise.

IMG_1741
Stagecoach boys 😉

Oh, and ladies it’s not so bad for us either. Don’t get me started on those country boys.

And then there’s always the music. Such easy listening and could not scream #mericuh louder if it tried. Frankie Ballard’s song gives a pretty good image of it: “Country girls swayin’ to the song that’s plain’.”

IMG_1748
TCD’s Hailey, Courtney & Briana at Stagecoach

Country music is about living in the moment and slowing down to enjoy the moments: back roads, cold beer, straight whiskey, mud on the tires, bikini tops and cut offs, the men who fight for our country, lifted trucks. I mean, isn’t that why we love this country?!

As for hockey games, yes, some would argue any sport is better to watch in person at the game than in front of your TV, but hockey is a WORLD’s difference in person. For starters, what other sport do the players get to brawl it out while the fans pound on the glass to cheer them on?

Hockey fans are the loudest and the rowdiest. No matter how many rows back they are. If you’re Red-Wing-Bruins-Hockeylucky and you’re at a real rivalry game, you’ll see the fans really get into it with each other; which is great because you’ll have just about every team fan in that place trying to back each other up.

IMG_0128
TCD does hockey. Specifically, Courtney & Carly starting young!

It’s not like a baseball game where you feel the need to only yell and cheer if there is currently a chant going on, or that old guy in the American flag onesie sitting in front of you just started a chant. Everyone is always yelling and practically spilling their beers on each other, and that’s okay because you are all sharing in the beauty of the sport. So feel free to hoot and holler at anytime, because it’s not like the whole row in front of you will turn around and judge you.

Well, unless you yelled “TOEWS SUCKS” and you’re in Chi-Town, than you might have some problems from the 6’5 mountain of a man you just now noticed rocking the Toews jersey in front of you.

Blues_vs_Ducks_ERI_4619_(5472459077)
Parros being the “hockey player” that he is.

But hey, just because I’m a little blonde girl who may stand a full foot shorter than him doesn’t mean I’m going to stand down! I got a Parros jersey on my back. A true definition of “a hockey player.

So I’m not going to stand down (even though my mother wishes I would), because where’s the fun in that?!

I’m the true definition of a hockey fan and so is this Toews fan. He would be disappointed if I stood down. We both might as well rip off our jerseys now if we decide to sit down and shut up. Because this is hockey, and if we’re going to rep true hockey players, we better hoot and holler like true hockey fans. And that my friends, is why people love going to live events. The atmosphere. And who makes the atmosphere? The fans.

IMG_1795
TCD’s Paige & Courtney at Stagecoach

Events are what you make of them, so do it right. Be the loudest and the rowdiest of the crowd, and even if you’re not, you’re enjoying all the fans who are. Because they make it an event.

Call me crazy, but if you don’t like hockey or country music and you have actually been to an event, (aka you cannot enjoy a beer and some good entertainment) then I think it’s about time you jump ship and head on overseas to communist land, because clearly america just isn’t your cup of tea.

And that’s fine. Because at the end of the day, we TCD girls would rather be someone’s shot of whiskey than a plain, old cup of tea.

Because it’s the CUP! Stanley Cup Preview

DUCKS_BLACKHAWKS_HOCKEY_35013088
You know how I know our editor loves me?
She asks me to write the piece for the Stanley Cup preview when my team just got brutally slain in Game 7 by the Blackhawks. But hey, we do it for the love of the game now don’t we…
The Tampa Bay Lightning are coming off a series win over the New York Rangers to clench their spot in the finals. They will face the Chicago Blackhawks in the battle for the Cup.
The trail for both teams to get to the finals has not been easy. In round one, the Lightning took down the Detroit Redwings in seven games, while the Blackhawks eliminated the Nashville Predators in six. In round two, the Lightning sent the Montreal Canadiens packing and the Hawks swept the Minnesota Wild. In round three, the Lightning shut out the Rangers in Game 7 to clench the series, while the Blackhawks came to Anaheim and sent us all home crying (and spewing expletives), while murdering us 5-2. This is the first time since 2000 that both conference finals needed a Game 7.
The goaltending will be the game changer, literally. The Blackhawks have one of the most experienced teams in the NHL and their goaltender Corey Crawford is in control. With a .919 save percentage in the playoffs, his goaltending is definitely better than adequate. He is expected to come out rested and ready after a star performance against the Ducks in Game 7. Ben Bishop, the goaltender for the Lightning is right around Crawford with a .920 save percentage in the playoffs this season. Although his save percentage practically mimics Crawford’s, Bishop has given up at least three goals or more in six playoff games. Scary, right?Steven_Stamkos_2014-03-22
The offenses of these two teams are immensely skilled while showing off their fancy footwork. In
other words, these guys are freaky fast on the ice. Captain Steven Stamkos one of the Lightning’s elite, has proven his strength leading the last 20 games with seven goals and 10 assists. Although his stats are impressive, he lacks in experience. This will be his first cup final.
Duncan Keith has been a standout for Blackhawks with two goals and 16 assists and he works hand in hand with captain Jonathan Toews who has nine goals and nine assists in the playoffs this season. Are you pucking serious, Toews? You’re a beast.
This series for the cup is stacked with talent, speed and sheer athleticism. Personally, due to experience, I’m putting my money on the Hawks and they’ll take it in six games. I don’t like you Chicago, but I have to respect your dynasty.
Here’s a schedule of the series:
Game 1: Wednesday 6/3 Chicago @ Tampa Bay 8 PM EST
Game 2: Saturday 6/6 Chicago @ Tampa Bay 7:15 PM EST
Game 3: Monday 6/8 Tampa Bay @ Chicago 8 PM EST
Game 4: Wednesday 6/10 Tampa Bay @ Chicago 8 PM EST
Game 5: Saturday 6/13 Chicago @ Tampa Bay 8 PM EST
Game 6: Monday 6/15 Tampa Bay @ Chicago 8 PM EST
Game 7: Wednesday 6/17 Chicago at Tampa Bay 8 PM EST
So fly Hawks fly?! Wait no, I just can’t. Looks like I’ll be drinking a lot of beers if I plan on rooting anybody on here. Cheers!

LeBron Makes His Fifth Consecutive Finals Appearance

LeBron_James_Wiz

Don’t act like you are surprised. How could you be?!

LeBron James is a two-time NBA champion, four-time league MVP, and one of the game’s best players averaging 27.6 points and 10.4 rebounds this year in the playoffs.

James post-season play has been phenomenal, but what has been the most impressive characteristic of James is his maturity, leadership and will to win. James returns to the Finals for a fifth consecutive year and is using that experience to fuel him.

Growing up in Cleveland, this championship run the Cavaliers are making takes a special place in my heart. Hell, to even hear the words “championship” and “Cleveland” in the same sentence is strange for me. What I keep going back to for constant positive thoughts during the series is LeBron’s letter (the opposite of “The Decision”) that he released to Sports Illustrated below:

“I feel my calling here goes above basketball. I have a responsibility to lead, in more ways than one, 741px-LeBron_James_1109and I take that very seriously. My presence can make a difference in Miami, but I think it can mean more where I’m from. Our community, which has struggled so much, needs all the talent it can get. In Northeast Ohio, nothing is given. Everything is earned. You work for what you have. I’m ready to accept the challenge. I’m coming home.”

LeBron’s back is a bit sore (literally and figuratively) from carrying the Cavs, but his supporting cast has definitely stepped up. With no Kevin Love and an injured Kyrie Irving the most unlikely players are making a name for themselves.

photo22Matthew Dellavedova, the backup point guard single handedly won Game 3 against the Hawks, scoring 17 points off the bench. He has been the defensive and energetic spark plug for the Cavaliers always ending up in scrappy hustle plays on the floor leaving 110% on the court. In Game 6 of Cleveland’s series clincher against the Bulls, Dellavedova posted 19 points as well.

Forward Tristan Thompson is a big, gritty man who can guard multiple positions defensively and kill it on the offensive glass to get second chance points.JR_Smith_Cavs_-_2015

JR Smith scored a playoff career high 28 points and set a Cavaliers playoff franchise record nailing eight 3-pointers and is acting as a 3-point specialist.  Smith brings the cockiness and swagger that every locker room needs.

But make no mistake…this is LeBron’s town, this is LeBron’s team and it’s starting to look like it might be his time too.
