This past weekend June 16-20th was the British Open, or as Britain likes to call it, The Open. This tournament is golf’s oldest tournament, being around for over 150 years. The Open was founded by pioneering golfers who had one guiding principle – to crown the Champion Golfer of the Year.

BLAH, BLAH, YADA YADA- Let’s get to the good stuff!
This year, the winner was Zach Johnson (from the United States, whoop whoop ‘MERICUH!).
No, not the Johnson dating ultra babe Paulina Gretzky, but still an American no doubt! God bless America.
It was an unfortunate loss for Jordon Spieth who has already won four times this year, including a pair of playoffs.
There is absolutely no way to talk about The Open without at least touching on defending champion Bubba Watson’s watch game this past weekend.

I am literally talking about the watch you wear on your wrist game.
The 2012 Masters champion has a casual half-million sitting on his wrist, thanks to a pretty sweet deal with Swiss luxury watchmaker, Richard Mille. This watch is the same type of $525,000 watch he wore en route to the green jacket last April.
Sorry but for a half mil, weren’t you expecting it to look way more blingy or something? Maybe that’s just me…
Speaking of some serious cash, there were a lot of bets placed this past weekend. The most outrageous bet made was three million.
THREE. MILLION. DOLLARS.
At the end of the day, to me, golf is just golf.
I love a good athlete, I do. And I’d love to learn how to play golf, but the likelihood of that happening is little to none (it’s an attention span thing… Is it football season yet?).
Thus, I’ll stick to drinking in the club house while my man kicks ass on the course.
Now personally, I have zero interest in golf, when it comes to watching at least. I understand that it is a fantastic sport that you can play at all ages of your life and is great for relaxing and honestly; I’d love to learn how to play. However, where’s the aggression? Where’s the physical contact? – Good thing football season is coming up 😉 I will admit though, the fact that the winner of the U.S. Open 2015 was down to the very last putt did make for an intense last few minutes. I’ll give it that!
But on to more important things!
Will Tiger Woods win another Major? If this picture to the left says anything, I’m going to go with no… Kudos on the caption @jrdellinger.
This past weekend at the U.S. Open, Woods placed 150th (out of 155, ouch). In other words, he didn’t even make it to play on Saturday or Sunday (double ouch).
Rumor has it Woods is switching his swing around, so maybe this could be why he has been playing so poorly? His playing this past weekend was completely off in every aspect of the game. When it all boils down, Woods didn’t do anything right. Tiger Woods’ U.S. Open was worse than it looked (statistics showed that), and there is no simple fix-all that will change things for poor Woods. Viewers (knowledgeable and unknowledgeable alike) could easily see that Woods was completely lost on the course. Ultimately, his game looks broken and there is little hope for his comeback.
Word on the street is that Jordan Spieth looks like Tiger Woods 2.0 after Masters-U.S. Open Double at 21.
Now that Bruce Jenner has transitioned into Caitlyn Jenner, SHE is having a difficult time with HER golf membership at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, CA.
Bruce Jenner golfed at Sherwood Country Club practically everyday and became extremely close with
the other male members of the club. According to TMZ, “now that Bruce is Caitlyn, the rules partially segregate her from the male members.”
Aka segregate her from the men’s only bar. Aye carumba. Golfing is one thing, but golfing without getting to stop in the bar… Just, why?
This must be a difficult transition for Bruce. Do you think Caitlyn should be able to have the same privileges she had when she was Bruce? Let us know on social media!
Clearly what GOLF stands for “Gentlemen’s Only, Ladies Forbidden” really is showing some merit in this case. Sheesh, what is this the stone age?
Should the new fashion trends for golf apparel stay or get left behind? Say goodbye to un-logoed polos and loose-fitting, pleated khakis and say hello to bright, patterned or should I say LOUD polos and pants.
Are they “overdoing” it? More like they’re KILLIN’ it.
Golf alone is incredibly boring to watch on TV (Golf fans, you know it’s true), so why not give us something FUN to look at! I love the new fashion trends: the flat brim hats (as seen on Justin Bieber), the oversized belt buckles, the pants with slits at the bottom and NEON apparel. In fact, if you didn’t know, some of these trends go way back in golf starting with Greg Norman.
From simple plaid, pastel prints and magenta windbreakers, Norman broke in the color statements first. He now even has his own line of golf apparel.
But it was really Ian Poulter who changed the game, the style game that is. Poulter came out with his own fashion line IJP Fashion, sporting bright pinks and chevron prints that were considered flashy for such a conservative sport. Little did those fans know this trend would only get bigger and bigger.
Just look at these fab ensembles. Way to be bold Mr. Poulter.

But if anyone knows how to wear these new trends well now, it’s Rickie Fowler.
Let’s be real, not many men can wear a uni-colored ensemble and still look sexy. Even if it was just for an inside joke. Honestly, that makes it even cuter.
Fowler has taken Arnold Palmer and Steve Ballesteros’ timeless style and has created an out-of-the-ordinary style that will go down in history.
His style may not be considered as ballsy as Poulter’s, but we’re still digging it.
Also, if you did not know, fashion circulates. What was in style many years ago is now back in style.
So, if you hate on these new fun trends, you can take a deep breath and calm down because the boring golf apparel trends will eventually come back, but let’s pray that doesn’t happen any time soon.
Like I’m thinking instead of this whole traditional green jacket we move with the times and make it the paisley or pin striped jacket? Just a thought.
Bottom line, keep doing what you’re doing boys, because you sure are keeping us TCD girls entertained!
