Let the DeflateHate Come in Full Force Because Tom Brady is FREE… For Now

Let the DeflateHate come in full force because Tom Brady is headed back to the football field. Oh yeah.

Thursday morning it was announced that the judge (who we now all know his name- Richard Berman) has nullified the judging of Tom Brady’s four game suspension to start the 2015 season. Naturally this stirred up everyone and had the internet going on a rampage of hate or happiness.

ESPN Insider, Adam Schefter, said this was an embarrassment to the NFL…

Cough, cough- They should.

SportsCenter anchor, Steve Levy said he even heard an announcement over the loud speaker in a Boston hospital that “Tom Brady is free.”

HAHA.

Upon hearing the news the Patriots, who were fined $1 million and docked two draft picks as part of the league’s initial punishment, tweeted…

https://twitter.com/Patriots/status/639445470230614018/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

And of course Gronk tweeted about it…

https://twitter.com/RobGronkowski/status/639447047129694208/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

And Trump…

And Barry Bonds.. Wait- Uh, awkward? Wonder what they have in common…

Not to mention Dunkin’ Donuts all along the East Coast rejoice…

But, were we too quick to jump to the conclusion that Brady’s suspension would actually pull through? I mean, there is the fact that there really was no hard evidence against Brady that was brought forth in court… Even though we all know he def deflated some balls. What? Who said that?

But don’t worry the drama continues- NFL Commish Roger Goodell announced later Thursday that they will be appealing the judge’s decision.

OMG. How many times is this going to happen? For real though.

Goodell said in a statement Thursday:

“We are grateful to Judge Berman for hearing this matter, but respectfully disagree with today’s decision,” Goodell said in a statement. “We will appeal today’s ruling in order to uphold the collectively bargained responsibility to protect the integrity of the game. The commissioner’s responsibility to secure the competitive fairness of our game is a paramount principle, and the league and our 32 clubs will continue to pursue a path to that end.”

Despite the appeal, Brady will see the field for his Thursday debut against the Steelers only because the league didn’t seek an emergency stay, freeing Brady to play while an appeals court considers the case, which likely will take months.

If I were a Steelers fan man would I be pissssssed…

Or how about if you already drafted for fantasy? Brady moved from 24th among quarterbacks to 6th. Thank the heavens our TCD draft is tonight. MUAHAHA

So after seven months of declarations and appeals, is this it? Is Deflategate over? Not quite.

Hell, at this point I wouldn’t be surprised if Obama felt the need to hold a press conference on this matter even though eight police officers have been killed in the past nine days and nobody seems to care about that…

Our world is pretty messed up man.

Stay posted and we will fill you in as details continue to come to us on all this Tom Brady drama…

What’s Next for Ray Rice?

bal-ray-rice-issues-statement-thanking-ravens-baltimore-apologizes-for-domesticviolence-incident-20150212

Ray Rice.

Former Baltimore Ravens running back, Super bowl Champion and 3x Pro-bowler, who’s got turned upside down at the snap of his fingers.

Or better yet, the click of an elevator button.

Now he sits and waits (well, works out and waits) to see which NFL team will give him a second chance.

Here’s a timeline of events that led Rice to be in this position.

  • February 15: Rice and Janay Palmer arrested on simple assault charges, details of altercation not clear.
  • February 19: Video of Rice dragging Palmer from an elevator released to the public.
  • February 21: Ravens stand by Rice and defend him.
  • March 26: Roger Goodell addresses Rice.
  • March 27: Rice indicted, chargers went from simple assault to aggravated assault. Palmer stated that she did not was to go forward with prosecution.
  • March 28: Rice and Palmer get married.
  • May 23: Rice accepted into pretrial intervention program instead of taking case to trial. Ray and Janay Rice had press conference.
  • June 16: Rice has discipline meeting with Goodell.
  • July 24: NFL suspends Rice 2 games.
  • September 8: Full video of Rice punching his wife in the face is released to the public. Ravens release Rice and the NFL suspends him indefinitely.
  • September 9-10: NFL and Ravens say they did not see the full video prior to it being released.
  • September 16: Rice appeals indefinite suspension
  • November 2-5: Hearings held
  • November 28: Rice wins appeal, NFL reinstates him.

So this leaves us with the question, what’s next for Ray Rice?

ray-rice_650x4551In his last season, Rice posted career-low stats. He had a total of 483 YARDS LESS than the season before and his yards per carry dropped to 3.1. Obviously these numbers are not helping Rice in his hunt for a new team.

However, some teams are down running backs and could use a veteran like Rice. Plus, in my opinion, this guy has so much to prove that he will come out guns blazing – if he gets signed. But seriously, look at these quick feet.

Rice has been able to sign with teams for months now – and still nothing. Which teams will be willing to take a chance on a man who quickly became the face of domestic violence?

BROWNS

The issue with the Browns running backs is that they are all young, Isaiah Crowell and Terrence West will be returning for their second season. Last year combined they had 1,280 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. The Browns added another running back in this year’s draft – Duke Johnson. With no go-to wide receiver or even a set quarterback, veteran Rice could be the key that this offense needs, especially during a season where Cleveland has a lot to prove.

COWBOYS

With Demarco Murray gone, the Cowboys look to fill the running back role. Right now, Darren McFadden looks to be their starting running back, although he comes with some concerns. And then there’s Joseph Randle aka underwear thief, who Andy Benoit from Sports Illustrated believes can have a 1,500 yard season. It probably won’t take much money to sign Rice, as it seems he just wants to get back on a team. With the Cowboys’ limited cap space and Rice’s ability to be an every-down back, we have to wonder if Rice will be a Cowboy this season. Plus we all know Jerry loves him some controversial boys.

PATRIOTS

Because they have such a structured program, Rice would benefit from being on the Patriots, as well as they would benefit from signing him. With LeGarrette Blount suspended for the beginning of the season, and both Stevan Ridey and Shane Vereen lost in free agency, the Pats need depth at the running back position. Plus, with the future of Tom Brady unknown, they need all the help on offense they can get. The help of Rice may not be a bad thing for the Patriots, as long as they can get past all the media distractions. Also, yet another coach who has no problem with some controversy.

RAIDERS

The Raiders always seem to be the team giving players second chances, so could this happen with Rice? Trent Richardson, the Raiders former third overall pick, is just averaging 3.3 yards per carry. With the addition of wide receiver Amari Cooper they are looking to build their offense, but who fills that running back role? Is it Latavius Murray – who showed some spark last season, Richardson who needs to step it up, or will it be Rice looking to redeem himself?

rayrice

Yes, these teams are in need of running backs, but can they over look Rice’s past, confront the media and fans and give him that second chance?

Call me crazy, but I think they should.

Let’s Talk Balls, Deflated Balls That is..

16350680255_ac1e000d64_h

In reference to the Deflategate scandal that the New England Patriots and QB/Playboy Tom Brady are now knee deep in, Forbes hit the nail on the head in their article about why deflategate matters and is still mattering when they discussed the integrity of the game.

Yes, the Patriots have a dynasty that, love it or hate it, isn’t going anywhere (unfortunately.) But, the scandal doesn’t just affect the Patriots. This is a matter of the National Football League as a whole. America loves football and once again as told by Leigh Steinberg for Forbes, “The public was outraged that America’s favorite pastime could involve a form of cheating.”

So where do we go from here? Here’s a bit of a timeline summary to refresh your deflategate memory:

January 18th: Patriots defeated the Colts 45-7.
January 19th: Tom Brady says accusations are false.
January 21st: Reports surface of 11 out of 12 balls were under inflated.
January 22nd: Belichick’s super weird interview?

And for fun, here is our favorite scientist Bill Nye calling BS on Belichick.

Brady adds “this isn’t ISIS, no ones dying.” in a press conference like a typical douche would say.

February 1st: Patriots win Super Bowl.

Everything after that is absolutely pointing fingers.

The Wells Report on Deflategate issued last week found it “more probable than not” that Jastremski and McNally, the equipment managers for the Patriots at the time, tampered with footballs and that Brady was “at least generally aware” of their actions.” McNally and Jastremski are now indefinitely suspended (aka suspended longer than Brady himself.)

Since the tricky New Englanders including Mr. Pretty Boy Brady himself refused to hand over theirTom_Brady_2011 cell phone text messages, Roger Goodell, the NFL commissioner, took a stand for the integrity of the league itself and took two draft picks from Robert Kraft and the Patriots while fining them one million dollars. (Chump change for the tainted dynasty.)

Goodell also suspended Brady for the first four games of the season while making sure the public knew part of the disciplinary action against Brady was because of his lack of cooperation. (F-yeah.)

Since then, Brady has of course appealed his suspension, but the positive about Brady going through with this appeal is that hopefully more information will come out and provide us with more understanding of who, how, and what the hell else the Patriots have been up to behind closed locker doors.

Oh, and there’s always this lovely video clip to end on.

Until next time!
