Drink of the Week! Thyme Greyhound

Aye, aye! It’s Thirsty Thursday & how convenient it’s FIVE o’clock here! This Thursday we were feeling ultra festive for our drink of the week so prepare yourselves because this one is not for the faint of heart! Thanks to Anthro Blog we got this new recipe and drink to try!

Say hello to the THYME GREYHOUND!

INGREDIENTS:

For the thyme simple syrup (yes, you have to make it yourself, calm your titties):
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
4-5 thyme sprigs

For the cocktail:
½ part thyme simple syrup
1 part vodka
2 parts grapefruit juice
Sprigs of fresh thyme, for garnish
Cherry, for garnish

Now before you panic that you have to make your own simple syrup, there’s a reason it’s called SIMPLE.

So here’s what you have to do… Start by making the syrup by combining sugar, water and thyme sprigs in a small saucepan. Let these suckers simmer for a bit on say, medium-low heat. Don’t forget to keep stirring until all the suga’ suga’ is dissolved. Once it’s done, let it chill for a sec and take out the thyme sprigs. FINALLY in a glass filled with ice, stir all that sh*t together and make your drink. Then obviously, garnish that bad boy with a sprig of fresh thyme and a cherry.

Voilà! You’re done! Now drink.

Drink of the Week! Fishers Island Lemonade

It’s Thirsty Thursday, so you know we got a new drink for you fools to try out this weekend.

Fishers Island Lemonade.

Fisher’s Island, New York is a nine mile long island with a year round population of 230 people.

There is only ONE bar, called the The Pequot Inn, which has been in business for over 100 years and serves the best drink I have had all summer.
With 9% alcohol in a small can, it gives you a bang for your buck. This lemonade is a much heftier take on a vodka lemonade with the addition of honey sweeteners and corn whiskey. You can find Fisher’s Island Lemonade in New York, Connecticut and Rhode Island with distribution expanding worldwide this summer!
How to make it your own/spice it up/add a unique twist:
Pour in a chilled mason jar over ice, if you’re feeling festive…
Sprinkle in some rosemary or add a fresh rosemary sprig, if you want to make the hipsters jealous…
Add a slice of lemon to garnish, because after all, it is summer…
– Enjoy with seafood, steak or a salad on a warm summer day! But beware… they will creep up on you!

IPA ALL DAY

GOT HOPS?

For all you hoppy folks, you know what I am talking about. Our favorite obsession (or maybe that’s just me). IPA’s.

IPA stands for India Pale Ale (not the actual origin of country). The IPA style of beer is complex and has a lot of flavor. According to IPA Beer.com, “The flavor of IPA beer highlights the complex and varied results that can be achieved through hops and other beer ingredient staples.” Needless to say, IPA’s are an acquired taste, hence how they take on a bitter flare.

And let’s be real. I’m not only obsessed with IPA’s because of the flavor, but because IPA’s have a higher than average ABV (Alcohol by Volume)! That means one IPA can be equivalent to having more than one light beer, which means I’m getting drunker faster, which is always a plus!

So to get you IPA lovers started out the right way this summer here are my favorite IPA’s that you best be giving a try this weekend!

Lagunitas

Ah, Lagunitas IPA. Take word from them: “The recipe was formulated with malt and hops working together to balance it all out on your ‘buds so you can knock back more than one without wearing yourself out.” The caramel malt, barley tastes keeps you always wanting another sip.

Dogfish head 90 minute Imperial IPA

I'm in rapture with Dogfish 90 Minute IPA. It is so potent you only get four in a pack. http://www.dogfish.com/brews-spirits/the-brews/year-round-brews/90-minute-ipa.htm

Now, for all of you hop-heads out there, one must try Dogfish Head: 120 Minute IPA. With 15-20% ABV and 120 IBUs, it is “the worlds strongest India Pale Ale.” This one is purely on the list because it gets you where you need to go fast. This puppy will get you nice and toasted within the hour. It’s sold in a 4-pack so that’s when you know it’s real. It is a gigantic IPA that one should SIP on and not chug. Or I mean chug it… You won’t.

 Lost Coast Double Trouble IPA

Double+Trouble+IPA

Aka my favorite! With its hazy amber color, white head, and citrus flavor with a malt backbone, it’s no wonder this American Double Imperial IPA is my fave! A definite must try for all you IPA lovers.

So what are you waiting for?! It’s Thirsty Thursday! Get out there and start chugging, or I guess sipping. Apparently chugging in public is frowned upon.
